Bangkok, 1st April, 2022 – Central Retail encourages the use of clean energy in transport in order to reduce pollution. Recently, Tops market has joined forces with MuvMi, a Thai startup, to introduce an on-demand ride-hailing service using clean energy tricycles which can be booked through its ride sharing app. This service will spearhead at Tops market Kast to cater to office workers and university students in Phaholyothin area, facilitating their transport and helping them save travelling expenses as oil prices continue to rise. The service brings affordability to people and is part of Central Retail’s strategy, CRC Retailligence, which aims to introduce new innovations for the future of retail and co-create success with partners for sustainable growth.

Mr. Stephane Coum, CEO of Central Food Retail under Central Retail, said that Tops, Central Food Hall, and FamilyMart are committed to environmental sustainability and have actively found ways to reduce energy consumption to minimize factors that could lead to global warming. Central Retail also has a strategy called “CRC Retailligence” with an aim to build innovations for the future of retail by introducing new technology to ensure the best experiences for its customers. The recent partnership with MuvMi, a clean energy on-demand ride-hailing app, brings the service to the first location at Tops market Kaset, which is an area populated by many generations, particularly young urbanites. This service will offer transport convenience to office workers and university students in Phaholyothin and Kaset areas, as well as neighboring areas. Those who come to Tops market Kaset can book a clean energy tricycle through the app to make their trip to their office, home, or university easier, and customers can also opt for a ride-sharing system to share their ride with others, with fares starting from only 10 baht. It is a less expensive option which can reduce people’s cost of living during this time of oil price hike. Customers also do not need to rely on their own vehicles or find parking spots. Additionally, the use of clean energy also reduces environmental impact and highlight Central Retail’s leadership position in food retail innovations. After the launch, the service has been well-received, and the frequency of customer visits at Tops market Kaset has also increased. There are plans to expand the service area to other routes to further facilitate customers who want to come here.

Krisada Kritayakirana, Ph.D., CEO of Urban Mobility Tech Co. Ltd., said that the concept of the clean energy tricycle on-demand ride-hailing app MuvMi is based on the team’s intention to come up with a solution for individuals that is accessible, safe, convenient and environment-friendly. The vehicles use 100% electricity and can link their passengers to mass transportation systems conveniently. The partnership with Tops market, which is Thailand’s leading supermarket, brings clean energy tricycles to Tops market Kaset for the first time, allowing MuvMi to expand its customer base and giving people more options for environment-friendly modes of transport. It also offers convenience and helps them save money. This model makes people more familiar with the concept of ride-sharing as they can share the same vehicle as others who are going in the same direction. Tops market customers can use MuvMi service through the MuvMi app and follow five simple steps: 1) Confirm pick-up point and drop-off point. 2) Select number of passengers or choose “I want a whole car” to ride alone. 3) Pay with MuvMi Pass or My wallet. 4) Book a tricycle and MuvMi will send a tricycle to your pick-up location. Scan the QR code to pay when getting on the vehicle. 5) Arrive safely at your destination and rate your experience on the app. This service can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 180 tons and also creates job opportunities for over 100 drivers.
